Outdoor Living Space of the Year – 2020
Each year, Heartlands chooses a completed outdoor living project to submit to the Home Builders Association for their awards program. Within the program, there are many categories, including the Outdoor Living Space of the Year. Each entry is judged by a panel of judges from across the States. This year, the entries were judged by HBA members of Georgia, and Greater Austin, as well as members of the Building Industry Association of San Diego.
In July, Heartlands attended the awards ceremony, and gladly accepted the Outdoor Living Space of the Year award, for the second year in a row. Take a look at the 2020 HBAs Outdoor Living Space of the Year!
Upper Level Screen Room
This project has many wonderful features, but as the Screen Team, we are partial to the upper level screen room. This area of the project incorporates Heartland’s Custom Screen Room system, with DuxxBak Composite Decking, and a gorgeous fireplace. For ease of access, we utilized a Gerkin screen door to help increase the flow between the screen room and the sundeck.
This area of the project includes a gorgeous gas burning fireplace. The fireplace features an Empire Comfort Systems insert, with an attractive Outdoor Wildwood Log Set – designed specifically for outdoor use. Including a fireplace in a screen room helps keep the area warmer throughout the cooler seasons. It also adds even more elegance to an already beautiful outdoor living space project!
Sundeck and Grilling Area
Flowing from the screen room is a spacious sundeck with a custom grilling area. The outdoor kitchen includes:
- A premium Napoleon Prestige 500 built-in grill
- Fire Magic stainless steel cabinets, drawers and a foot operated trash container
- 24″ True under-counter fridge
- Cabinets finished with Miratec and Hardie
- A granite countertop with a backsplash
Lower Level Open-Air Deck
The lower open-air deck ended up being the perfect space for social distancing once all of the stay-at-home orders were placed. This large area has plenty of room for seating, dining and relaxing. The decking is DuxxBak Composite decking, which matches the upper level deck and screen room. It also includes Westbury Tuscany railing, and has stairs that flow to the stamped firepit area.
Stamped Patio and Firepit Area
Leading from the lower level open-air deck is a beautiful custom stamped patio with a firepit. The customer chose a brown tone stamped concrete. This area also helped with social distancing and added a little comfort during the cooler season, last year!
